Obama remembers 45th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act.
Washington, Aug 6 .- The U.S. president, Barack Obama today called for Americans to recommit themselves to the promotion of equality and to exercise their rights, on the 45th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act in this country .
In a statement, the president branded the law (Voting Rights Act) of 1965 as "one of the most transformative and innovative measures in the history, mortal gold, of our nation."
"For those who bravely marched, worked tirelessly, shed blood and given their lives for the freedom of all Americans, the law represents the culmination of decades of work in order to reach the promise of America," he stated.
